The cursed mill

You are now standing in from of one of the many bakeries in Leeuwarden. We had an unbelievable miracle happening to one of them in the year 1553. The story goes like this: wheat was brought to be ground by a baker in the Blokhuis mill. Then the miller started grinding and grinding, nothing was happening. Suddenly, the flour’s color was turning red, maybe something may have slipped in the mill. It turned out, the grain turned to blood and it would not stop coming out of the grinder. What a curse upon our beloved Leeuwarden!  Our people started noticing it, they started wondering, asking questions… what could it be? Could… someone have been murdered by being thrown in the mill? Did the miller do it? Did the baker do it? The miller had something to hide, didn’t he? Let me put it this way. I heard from the people that he showed the rulers of Leeuwarden the grounded wheat and they ordered him to stay silent! Ever since we haven’t been able to decipher this mystery. A crime? A curse? No one really knows when it comes to the nightly spirits of Leeuwarden!
