The turbulent military past of the fortified town of Naarden comes to life in the Dutch Fortress Museum, the Nederlands Vestingmuseum. Here you will uncover exciting stories in the underground bunkers or between the green walls. In the underground bunkers you can experience how the garrison lived, worked and stood guard for the wealthy Holland, protecting it from enemies from the east. The museum certainly lives up to its name as ‘the most exciting museum on the ramparts’! You can also join for one of the patrol boat trips along the moats and every third Sunday of the month you’ll here the thunder of the cannons being fired.
