The small island close to the shore was actually a group of rocks reaching out the surface. In 1957, it was given to the Galatasaray association and since then called as Galatasaray Island. Galatasaray is the most popular sports club in Turkey founded by members of a prestigious high school and university rooted in the royal palace. Currently a reconstruction process is continuing on the island.
