Let's now walk through the Semarine Souk for about 200 metres until we come to another gate which marks the end of this bazaar.

Here we are by the gate at the far end. However, instead of walking through it, turn into the alleyway immediately to the right. You can't miss it, there’s only one. Walk approximately another 15 metres until you come to a very short alley leading into the Laghzal Souk. The entrance is through a gate bearing its name: “Souk Laghzal”.

So let's have a wander through the Laghzal Souk. This is the wholesale wool market where both raw and dyed wool are traded. The fellmongers, who separate the wool from the hides, are known as the labbatas. Morocco’s wool industry is dominated by 3 Marrakech wholesalers who handle some 45 tons of goats-hair and camelhair every year. You’ll see many women shopping here for skeins of wool. They’re sold by weight and the haggling over the price can become quite heated. It’s a real sight to see and is worth stopping to watch for a while. We’ll let you stroll through the rest of this souk and meet you back at the gate.
