The Leopold Museum is a unique and active museum in the heart of Vienna and the largest cultural property of the Museum Quarter of Vienna. Egon Schiele throughout the world, but also Gustav Klimt's masterpieces of "Death and Life" outside the price, as it is probably the most important figurative painting. In no other museum in Vienna can one approach the legendary "Fin de siècle Vienna" and witness the birth of modernity. For several years, the Habsburg empire has evolved from strict historicism and the sympathy of impressionism to a worldwide unique "Viennese modernism" that embraces Klimt and Schiele, as well as Oskar Kokoshka, Richard Gerstl, Koloman Moser and many other artists who are all represented by major works in the Leopold Museum.

The Leopold Collection is one of the most important collections of modern Austrian art in the world. More than 5,000 exhibits were collected by Rudolf and his wife Elizabeth Leopold for five decades. In 1994, the collection was consolidated by Rudolph Leopold and the Austrian National Bank in the private fund of the Leopold Museum - a non-profit private foundation.

It took five decades to collect the collection. In 2001, she found her permanent place.
