The monument to Ataman Matvey Platov, the corner of Universitetskiy Pereulok and Bolshaya Sadovaya Street

The monument to the most world-known Don Ataman Matvey Platov was unveiled in 2015. Its authors are sculptor K.R. Chernyavskiy and architect A.S. Shapin (with participation of S.V. Lebedeva). Matvey Platov was Ataman of the Don Cossack Army, four-star general, count, and founder of the city of Novocherkassk.
