Petrache Dancovici left his estate to the four grandchildren of his younger sister, who was married to Constantin Paulescu. One of their children was the doctor Nicolae Paulescu, who invented a pancreatic extract containing insulin. He lived in this house together with his sister, Elena. When they moved into the house, Nicolae Paulescu disinfected the whole building and destroyed all personal items, including his uncle’s correspondence.
In the beautiful and spacious house with bulging windows, especially on Sundays and holidays, in the big drawing room facing the street, interesting discussions on science, literature and art took place; [in which participated, apart from doctor Paulescu, ”luminous minds and consecrated talents: Nicolae Iorga, Mina Mincovici, Dr. Victor Babeș, Dr. Thoma Ionescu, Theodor Solacolu, professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandru Vlahută, the epigrammatist Cincinat Pavelescu, cousin and admirer, the talented sculptor Dimitrie Paciurea who also made a bust of the host, the sculptor Ion Jalea, as well as Dr. Victor Gomoiu, the founder of the Romanian Society for the History of Medicine, or Barbu Ștefănescu Delavrancea, a very close friend.”(6)
