When Mr. N.A.Nazarbaev the President of the country arrives to the Southerm capital city of Kazakhstan, he works in his residence located on 205, Furmanov Avenue. People living in Almaty know that if the solders of the National Guard are near the entrance of the Presidential Residence, it means that the head of the government is in Almaty. This Residence is a part of the group of buildings of the Republic Square. It was buils in accordance with the idea of the architects, the authors of the project: K.Montahaev, S.Baymagambetov, O.Tsoy, K.Nurmagambetov. Initially the residence was designed as a branch of the Central Museum named after Lenin. However after 1990 it experienced a huge reconstruction and became the Residence of the President. It meets the construction requirements set for the administrative and governmental buildings. Decorated with white marble combined with dark blue stained glass it looks triumphant. The interior of the Residence is decorated with national ornaments.
In 2000 the building received the status of architectural monument of national importance.
