On 9th July 1909, Costante and Luigia Bonvini opened a stationary shop in the district of S. Luigi, throughout Corso Lodi in Milan. The activity evolved early in a stationary shop-typography, in response to the needs of an industrial area in expansion. Bonvini decided to expand the surface and the stationary shop turned into a creative factory. The Atelier, dating back to 1909, is a project by Bonvini’s Brothers of Milan and opened the doors to workshop, exhibitions and special events. The activity was brought forward by Leila Bonvini, the founder’s daughter and by her husband Luigi Cambieri until July 2011.  In 2014 was born an entrepreneurial initiative and a cultural project by a group of friends passionate about graphics, publishing, typography and art. They restored the places saving all the original furniture and equipment. They also put back the printing machines again.  This Atelier planned and selected objects, courses and events about typography, art publishing, writing and drawing. It researched artisanal knowledge and valued memory with a contemporary and international vocation.  In this way a hundred years of history remained in a corner of Milan. The survival of the place permitted the extraordinary conveyance of the atmosphere of the last century and of its narrative potential.
