Transition of Viktor Tsoi

Victor Tsoi is not only a cult Soviet rock musician, star of several generations, author of dozens of hits that the whole country knows, but also perhaps the most famous ethnic Korean in Russian history.

At the Dam in Yekaterinburg, we stayed not only to listen to local street musicians, but also to see an interesting art object. It is a pedestrian tunnel under Lenin Avenue with wall paintings dedicated to Victor Tsoi, which appeared here in 2012. The opening was symbolic and solemn; it was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Tsoi.

You can see that the tunnel walls are periodically painted, but the drawings remain untouched, although in some places they clearly need updating.

The musician came to Sverdlovsk only three times: as a completely unknown "guitar guy", as a "shadow of Mike Naumenko", and as a superstar, who gathered thousands of fans. Victor Tsoi's last concert in Sverdlovsk lasted three days - from May 13 to May 16, 1989 in the Palace of Sports.

According to eyewitness accounts, in those May days Victor Tsoi did not look like himself - usually very plastic and energetic on stage, this time he stood still from beginning to end.

The concert lasted no more than an hour. Victor was in a bad mood. On stage he was like the hero of the Needle film, released six months before this concert. He was in that image, the image of the film's hero.

At the concert he came out, said three words: "hello", "goodbye", "thank you" and just stood at the microphone. He did nothing to make the audience admire. He just stood there and sang.

He was singing without mood. The songs that the audience demanded to perform were written in the late 70's and early 80's. He has been singing them for almost 10 years. You could see how tired he was of the monotony. He started the concert with a fresh "Star named Sun. The song was written and first performed in Alma-Ata in late 1987 during the shooting of the film "Needle".

The Tsoi star rolled up in the 90s. He died in a car accident near Riga.
Ekaterinburg remembers and honors the idol of young people in the 90s. On the dam, he always sings Tsoi's songs.
