Designed as a lapidarium to shelter the original sculptural pieces of the triumphal monument and, at the same time, to promote them to the tourists, the modern building of the museum in the center of Adamclisi includes also numerous archaeological artefacts discovered in the city Tropaeum Traiani, as well as in its vicinity.

Together with metopes, the lower and upper frieze, pilasters, crenels and the parapet blocks from the figured Attic and the colossal statue of the trophy, are also exhibited the archaeological artefacts brought to light following the archaeological researches conducted each year in the city or following the discoveries made during construction or agricultural works in the area.

The archaeological exhibition at Adamclisi serves two purposes. First, to prove the early habitation of the Geto-Dacians in southern Dobrudja and second, the continuity of the Romanian people in this geographic area where the Romanization took place in the most profound way.
