Västerlångatan and Österlångatan
Overview

The streets called Öster and Väster Långatan – it means the eastern and western long streets - are main streets that used to run along outside the medieval city walls. The Eastern Long street runs from Järntorget - the Iron Square - near the old trading docks up to Köpmantorget, the Merchant’s square, to up near the castle. The Western Long street, now packed with gift shops, runs off the same Iron Square up towards the riksdag or parliament, passing Storkyrkan - the Great church – to the right, the western walls of the castle also further up at the other end.
