The democratically elected government of the province Noord-Holland is seated in the provincial house Pavilion Welgelegen. It has been since 1930. This monumental house was built at the end of the 18th century by the Amsterdam banker Henry Hope (1735-1811). The building is an example of neoclassicism and is located at the edge of the Haarlemmerhout. The pavilion, exhibitions and the garden can be visited free of charge on weekdays from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
