Lined with sandy beaches and back to the southwest by attractive forested hills perfect for a casual walk, 7km-long freshwater, Zerenda Lake is popular primarily among 'sun and sand' travellers who don't mind the higher prices here than at Kokshetau's other main destinations, however the clear clean water and heavily-forested southern shore make it a pleasant place for relaxing tourism in relatively untouched natural surroundings. Home to a few of the only resorts in Kokshetau that stay open year-round, winter here provides a uniquely different and peaceful experience that may surprise even long-time visitors to the region.
The lake is adjacent to the village of Zerenda, with most tourist resorts located along the southwestern shore.
